⭐ Introducing our Old Elk Wheat Whiskey Single Barrel Store Pick finished in a Sauternes Cask for 6 Months! 🎉
⭐ A little Backstory: We met with Melinda Maddox (Master Blender) and Greg Metze (Master Distiller) from Old Elk and specifically requested Low Yield Barrel Options to taste through! We went with the 8 Year which only yielded 10 cases! We definitely feel like there's more character and depth in a Low Yield Barrel, but let us know what you think when you try them! Then we tasted the Sauternes Cask for kicks and Mel and Greg allowed us to bring in 10 cases of that as well!🔥
⭐ 6 Year Sauternes Cask Barrel#7077
Nose - It's pretty similar to the Nose on the 8 Year Wheat, but the Sauternes Cask Finish gives it some Butterscotch, Honey, and melted Vanilla Ice Cream notes. I could Nose this on and on before even taking a Sip!
Palate - The Mouthfeel is a bit more Viscous which makes it Richer than the 8 Year. I get tons of Butterscotch and Honeycomb. I picture that raisined Bread Pudding from the 8 Year but slap on a large scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream that's melting down the sides. It Finishes with lingering notes of Brown Sugar and other Baking Spices.
