The History of Nikka : A Nine-Decade Legacy
The Nikka Nine Decades is much more than just whisky. It is a tribute to 80 years of expertise and innovation of the Nikka house. Founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, the distillery has established itself as a pioneer of Japanese whisky, combining Japanese traditions and Scottish techniques. This prestigious blend brings together whiskies from all six Nikka distilleries, including the famous Ben Nevis in Scotland, offering unparalleled complexity and depth.
A Masterpiece of Whisky Craftsmanship
The Nikka Nine Decades stands out for its meticulous blending of more than 50 batches of whisky, including the oldest reserves of Yoichi and Miyagikyo, as well as newer whiskies from Moji and Satsumatsukasa. Bottled at 48% alcohol and not chill-filtered, this whisky preserves all its organoleptic characteristics, revealing exceptional richness and complexity. The bottle, handcrafted using the Edo-bori engraving technique, symbolizes the legacy of Nikka.
Tasting Note: An Unforgettable Sensory Experience
On the nose, The Nikka Nine Decades reveals a gourmand sweetness of apple pie and raisins, accompanied by toasted notes and a sweet smoke. On the palate, the elegance of wood blends with cinnamon spices, toasted walnuts and dark chocolate, balanced by a sweet touch of apricot jam and maple syrup. The finish, long and intense, envelops the taste buds with subtle peat and pleasant bitterness, evoking the warmth of a fireplace.
