Kosta was born in Poti, Georgia and founded Saperavi Brothers with a sole purpose of importing Georgian wine and advancing the category in the United States. In 2016, he made it his mission to import Georgian wine to the US in order to strengthen Georgia - US trade relations. Georgia, with its unique culture and cuisine, has a fascinating 8,000 year uninterrupted tradition of winemaking and it is quickly capturing the imagination of the wine industry. At the heart of their winemaking tradition, they use Qvevri which are earthenware vessels with the purpose of storing, fermenting and maturing their wines until they're ready to be bottled! 🍷
